Making Disciples
Simmons Family
November 2025
Perhaps the most neglected aspect of conversion to the faith is the lack of discipleship of the new believers. In Matthew 28:20 we are commanded “Teaching them to observe all things…” in other words we often don’t complete our task when someone makes a profession of faith but, now have the responsibility to disciple them so they too can live the Christian life. Recently my wife had prayed for the Lord to give her someone to teach about the Lord; shortly after we received word that one of my nieces had been saved and she wanted to be discipled. As for the people of Senegal we realize we are stepping into the Devil’s territory, and he is not going to hand over the “keys” overnight. With this thought in mind, the conversion numbers you are used to hearing from missionaries may not be as high. We will have a key focus on discipling those who do convert to Christianity in hopes that they will become disciples themselves and will have a burden to reach others.
The month of November allowed us to travel to different parts of country and the privilege to meet and make new friends. We started the month at home where I was to present/preach at Redeemed Baptist. The following week, we traveled to Mississippi for the Unity Bible Conference. We then went to the Birmingham and was able to present/preach Bro. Kyle Hicks and Cornerstone Baptist. The following week we traveled to the St. Louis area where I was able to reconnect with Bro. Brad Harris and present at Bible Baptist. While in the area we also to present/preach at Bro. Gatlyn and his church in Troy, Mo. On the week of Thanksgiving, we were able to return home to spend time with families and friends. By the end of the month, we had two more families take us for support and several churches are considering us for support.
