“Owe No Man Anything”
February 2025
It has long been the burden of my heart that the missionary should be debt-free. In our society today we are taught that if we can’t outright buy something than we should borrow/take out a loan. They’re are times I’ve done that very thing, however, if you find yourself in that situation, it should be your goal to pay it back as quickly as possible. Romans 13:7-8 tell us that we are to “…owe no man anything…” in other words we shouldn’t be putting ourselves in debt. Another aspect of this is that we should as little as possible to things that are materialistic, ultimately you can’t take it with you when you pass away and your treasure is laid-up in Heaven if you know Christ as Savior. We will be going to the field in this fashion but, if you read and think that is the intent then you have misunderstood but, rather it is to remind you of an important Biblical principle that has been forgotten or ignored by many who profess Christ as Lord.
February proved to be an unusual month for us but nonetheless productive. We started the month at a camp meeting in Lake City, FL where we enjoyed great preaching and were able to reconnect with many of our friends. During that same week we had an opportunity to present at a local church and present at a Missions Conference. We then travelled back to NC to attend the “Passing the Mantle” meeting with Bro. Harmon and his church. We had an opportunity to attend a fellowship meeting and toward the end of the month I was able to purchase my plane ticket to Senegal. The Lord has opened a door for us to house-sit for a family who is coming back to the US briefly and this gives us time to find housing for ourselves as well as getting our worker IDs.
Prayer Requests:
- Hannah’s and baby’s health
- More support and initial cost
- Language learning (We’ve began French online but will learn native language on field)
- Smooth transition to Senegal
