A Greater Yes
Simmons Family
Jan-March 2024
First of all, we want to thank the Lord for all His many blessings these last few months, we were reminded countless times that it is truly impossible without Him. Normally, in this place I would explain the meaning of the title but for this particular letter it will be better to save for later. Probably one of the greatest principles I’ve learned in my Christian life is that it is not what I can do for God but, what He can do through me. As you read through the remainder of this letter, I encourage to remember that it is Him, not us. We thank you for your continued for your love, support, and prayers.
The month of January allowed us to be in three different states including SC, VA, and TN. We began in South Carolina where we were able to present at a church where we have visited before. We also had the opportunity to present at a mission’s conference at Anchor Baptist Church. (took us on) We then traveled up to Virginia to participate in the mission’s conference at Emmanuel Baptist Church (took us on) and we were also able to present at other churches in the area. We were privileged to visit New Grace Baptist in Bristol, TN.
February, we had the opportunity to travel to Lake City, FL and join Bro. Mike Norman and his church for their annual camp meeting. We were able to meet pastors/fellow missionaries as well to see some friends we have met along the way. We returned home to meet with our pastor regarding ordination plans before the Lord allowed us to go to the Faith for the Family Couple’s Retreat where the Lord worked in our hearts greatly to better our marriage.
Finally, in March we ran through a roller coaster of ups and down but we were so glad the Lord kept us going. At the beginning of the month we had the opportunity to return to Texas where we able to update one of supporting churches before going to mission’s conference at Lukfata Baptist Church in Oklahoma. We were than able to present at a church in Fort Worth, TX before we started our journey back home and we are grateful to Bro. Greg Mangum for allowing us to stop overnight to rest at his church. It was our way to the Clouds of Glory camp meeting that we would face our greatest challenge, an hour south of Atlanta our truck and camper would be declared a totaled following a wreck. The initial thought was, what do we do now? Our prayer that morning was for safety as we traveled and that the Lord would keep our truck/camper from an accident but the Lord chose not to allow that. Little did we know the Lord had a “greater yes” for us in that through our insurance settlement, we were able to purchase a vehicle with far less miles and much better condition. The Lord has also led us to continue without a camper and to stay in prophet’s chambers and hotels when necessary. Through all this, the Lord gave us 1 Corinthians 15:58, “…be ye stedfast, unmoveable…” and we are encouraged to continue to see what the Lord has for us. The month of March finished on a positive as I was ordained by my home church, Sunrise Baptist Church, Morganton, NC and so grateful for all those who attended and have influenced in so many ways to this point.
