2023 – July – September Prayer Letter

“Not Looking Back”

July-September 2023

One of the greatest challenges on deputation is the temptation to look back. Over the last few months there has been times where we simply wanted to look back and ponder if it was worth going forward. I was taught long ago that if you’re trying to do something for the Lord that the Devil will try everything he can to stop you. We evidenced that in our lives but, I was reminded of Lot’s wife and the unfortunate circumstance she found herself in when she looked back to what the world had to offer. If I can encourage, please don’t look back and keep going forward for the Lord!

In July we had the opportunity to go to Texas where we spent the first part of the month in the Houston area and then closed out the month in the Dallas area. Of all our journey so far, this one was the most beneficial as far as support and opening doors for future opportunities. We also crossed the Louisiana line and took part in a church service there. We learned of three churches who took us on and met Bro. Bob Hoffman who setup a web page for us: missionstosenegal.com We attended multiple scheduled meetings as well as two camp meetings while in the area.

August was little bit of a slower month but nonetheless, we had the opportunity to return home and present in a scheduled meeting as well as visit local churches and area meetings. Toward the middle of the month, I had the opportunity to preach a mission conference for New Hope Baptist Church, West Columbia, SC (took us on) and present at another church in that area.

I normally stick to the months I list but, our September actually started a few days early as we were able to return to Louisiana. We are grateful Bro. Keary Jordan and Fort Hope Baptist Church (took us on) who allowed us to park our camper on their property while we visited churches in the area. We had multiple churches take us on including one that we never even visited. We were also able to go back to Texas to present at a missions conference and present at a chur church who invited us back on our previous trip.

Prayer Request:

  1. Hannah’s health
  2. Support would continue to increase.
  3. Wisdom for decisions regarding our camper
  4. The Lord would continue to allow to fill our schedule.
